Assistant Provost & Director of Institutional Effectiveness Hampden-Sydney College, United States
Session Abstract: The Factbook is an important institutional artifact. However, at a small institution with an Office of Institutional Research that has limited technology and manpower, producing the Factbook can be a time-consuming journey—especially if the IR office is comprised of one person. In this presentation, participants at small institutions will gain strategies for designing a comprehensive, detailed, and accurate Factbook that can be reproduced quickly year-to-year. The presenter relies on strategies they gained when they redesigned the Factbook they inherited that allowed them to produce the Factbook quickly and accurately using standard tools, such as Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel, and data they already generated for internal and external sources, such as the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, Common Data Set, American Association of University Professors, and state entities.
