Director of Institutional Research and Assessment
The University of Findlay
Fremont, Ohio, United States
Over her 30 years in higher education, Dr. Kristen Lindsay has successfully navigated positions in both student affairs and academic affairs at state, private, two-year, and four-year institutions. Establishing the first stand-alone institutional research and assessment operation at The University of Findlay over the past several years is a career highlight. Previous roles included responsibility for various innovative programs: establishing an Academic Service Center, operationally merging academic advising and career development, launching a “deciding” living and learning community, and building a first-year experience program. She has contributed to strategic planning at institutional, departmental, and programmatic levels. From developing program specific satisfaction surveys to deploying institutional level campus completion plans for the Ohio Department of Higher Education, overseeing assessment plans that align with strategic goals is one of her favorite professional responsibilities. Other past projects include successfully managing a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant, developing a career-focused FYE program based on students’ Strong Interest Inventory results, and creating a team-based, NCAA-funded academic skill building initiative tailored to student-athletes’ self-reported needs. Kristen enjoys tackling new projects with creativity, collaboration and a positive attitude. Whatever the functional area, she researches best practices, makes recommendations, and implements effective assessment to help colleagues make data-informed decisions to positively impact student success.
