Since 2023, Giana J. Malak has served as Director of Academic Planning and Analysis at the UNC System Office. Ms. Malak provides data-based decision support and data research for Academic Affairs projects, reports, and policy evaluation and development. She also leads a cross-functional team that manages and supports the data warehouse for students, courses, and academic programs data from all institutions in the UNC System. During her 15-years in higher education, Malak has held a variety of administrative roles in several divisions leveraging subject matter expertise with cross-functional team collaboration. Many of her projects focus on developing or evaluation of metrics. Prior to working in higher education, Malak held design positions in architecture firms on the U.S. east coast. Malak holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental design in architecture, a master’s certificate in applied statistics and data management, and a master’s degree in statistics from NC State University.
