Dr. Smith has presented at multiple SAS and higher education related conferences on a variety of topics including data literacy, data ethics, data visualization, and equity. She is a certified SAS programmer who focuses on equity-related data analysis and student success. She was an adjunct chemistry instructor and a Senior Research Analyst at Central Piedmont Community College prior to early retirement.
Kelly works with Achieving the Dream as a contract Data Coach; provides expertise in research, data analysis/visualization, and equity in the areas of government structure and organization, organizational change, and DEIA topics for the Edward J. Collins Center and the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston; provides SAS expertise for the UNC School of the Arts; and is the owner of AEWAS Consulting, which supports data and equity work through coaching and SAS expertise.
Dr. Smith has a MS in Chemistry; an Ed.D. in Adult and Community College Education; a graduate certificate in Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy; and is completing a Master of Arts at Wesley Theological Seminary with a focus on social justice. She is an active member of the Association for Institutional Research, the SouthEast SAS Users Group, the Association for Talent and Development, and the North Carolina Association for Institutional Research.
