Melissa Barnett, Ph.D., CDMP, is the Director of Data Strategy & Governance at Harvard University, where she is responsible for solidifying and facilitating the university-wide data governance program, providing governance and strategy guidance at the school level, and maintaining strong relationships across the university. Melissa’s data governance journey started as the Data Governance Manager at Georgia State University. In addition to data governance, Melissa’s expertise lies in evaluation research and analytics (at Harvard and MIT). She has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal and EDUCAUSE Review articles, co-taught with colleagues the EDUCAUSE Data Literacy Institute and the Data Governance Essentials Learning Lab, and co-led the EDUCAUSE Data Governance Community Group Steering Committee.
