Dr. Chloe Qian has been managing institutional surveys at Bowdoin College since 2021. In her role as a research analyst in the Office of Institutional Research, Analytics, and Consulting, she oversees all aspects of institutional surveys and utilizes diverse research and analytical techniques to draw data-based insights for stakeholders across the college.
In addition to traditional surveys, Chloe also collaborates closely with campus offices and departments to collect data to support student success and institutional effectiveness. The Polar Bear Feedback Team (PBFT), a panel consisting of around 100 students committed to answering two to three questions every week for an entire semester, has been under Chloe’s supervision since it’s launched in the fall of 2023. Chloe serves as the bridge between key campus stakeholders who are looking for student feedback to strategize their services and engaged students who are interested in facilitating changes on campus with their voices. So far Chloe’s conference presentations have been at academic conferences while earning her Ph.D. in sociology from Michigan State University, and she is excited to share her experience designing and leading PBFT at the AIR Forum 2025.
