Session Abstract: This practitioner talk will describe OCAS’ experiments with natural language tools for applicants and explorers of Ontario post-secondary programs, based on program and labour market data using a variety of modern AI tools and techniques. We include both structured college program data and unstructured natural language data, and link college programs to detailed job data and taxonomies. This talk will outline the market needs, our process, outcomes, and early validation of natural language tools meant to support research and decision making for post-secondary applicants. The highlight of the talk will be a demonstration of the current state of natural language tools, their validation process, and a glimpse into OCAS’s future developments. The session aims to impart practical knowledge on leveraging natural language data alongside structured data, offering actionable insights and recommendations for organizations embarking on similar natural language prototyping endeavors.
