Stepping In and Stepping Up: Leading in the Interim

Session Abstract: Changes in leadership can lead to disruptions to offices that might range from complete turnover of staff to a minor inconvenience to operations. We often see institutions appoint an acting or interim leader to “keep the ship afloat,” providing a temporary fix for a complicated challenge. In this discussion group, the facilitators will discuss their recent experience serving as the interim leader for their respective IR offices and offer perspectives on framing and navigating the "interim" situation. The discussion will address topics covering succession planning, leading through uncertainty, key challenges and successes, and lessons learned.
