Session Abstract: Over the past three years, the Center for the Study of Student Life has developed programming aimed at fostering collaboration and bridging knowledge gaps between student affairs staff and institutional research professionals. This session will explore the reimagining of an initial multiweek assessment and data course into a year-long initiative focused on broad data literacy education for staff, and how the subsequent year-long initiative evolved into a community, with an annual calendar of sessions aimed at building data literacy. Participants will learn about the importance of building a data-informed culture, the role of continuous professional development, and the practical steps involved in creating data literacy programming at their own institutions. This session is designed to help attendees develop a framework for building staff capacity in data literacy, with a focus on improving data utilization across all areas of an institution.
