Session Abstract: This presentation highlights a project aimed at improving equity and retention for Penn State World Campus’s online students. The Population Index method identifies representation inconsistencies in student group proportion reporting, which provides insight into possible equity gaps. The presentation will introduce the concept of Population Index and how we utilized it in retention reporting at World Campus. We will discuss the process of introducing the Population Index to our organization, including the initial discussions and the steps taken to incorporate it within our systems. Finally, we will also discuss its use in support of strategic planning.
