Session Abstract: Student surveys provide opportunities to mine open-ended response questions to discover patterns, trends, and knowledge that may be obscured in the quantitative analysis of the survey-structured questions. But qualitative coding by hand can be tedious and time-consuming. This poster presentation will guide researchers through the process of using ChatGPT to uncover themes in the NSSE 2023 student responses. The session will also provide information on Sentiment Analysis as well as Emotion Detection to show changes over time between the last three iterations of the NSSE survey.
