Adam Elder is the Assistant Vice President of Data & Institutional Research at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he leads institutional reporting, professional development, and the advancement of innovative data solutions to support the university's mission and strategic goals. He earned his doctoral and master’s degrees in educational research methodology from LSU and holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Auburn University.
Before joining LSU’s Office of Data & Strategic Analytics, Adam served as the C. J. & Regina Hyde Endowed Associate Professor of Educational Research at Southeastern Louisiana University. His research focuses on research methods instruction and the use of data in educational organizations, with a particular emphasis on applying quantitative methods to address problems of practice.
Adam’s professional experiences also include serving on LSU’s COVID Response Team; teaching statistics courses at LSU and the University of Texas Health Science Center; and providing research methodology, analytics, and program evaluation consulting for higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations nationwide. He has received multiple research awards and held leadership roles in various national, regional, and state organizations. Before transitioning to higher education, Adam taught middle and high school mathematics in Alabama and Louisiana.
