Director of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness
Northwestern Health Sciences University
Bloomington, Minnesota, United States
Chris Petrie is the Director of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness at Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU). He previously served as Director of Curriculum and Learning Analytics and Director of Clinical Education. He also brings experience as a faculty member, department chair, and IT department manager at a previous institution.
At NWHSU, Chris has developed extensive automated workflows to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of data processing, particularly in the collection and aggregation of assessment data. He has also leveraged data warehousing and analytics tools to help the university transition from static data dumps and reports to real-time reporting and dashboards. These initiatives have enabled the institution to utilize data analysis and reporting across systems (SIS, LMS, etc.) in ways that were previously not possible with manual data wrangling. His efforts have also made institutional data reporting more accessible, further advancing a data-driven culture on campus.
Chris holds an bachelors degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is also a residency-trained, board-certified chiropractic radiologist. His training and experience enable him to connect with health sciences faculty, program leaders, and university leadership to drive discussions on how data can be used to enhance student learning and the overall student experience.
