G. Marc Turner serves as the Assistant Vice President for Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research at Texas State University. Since assuming the role in 2020 after 17 years as a faculty member, he leads ongoing efforts to strengthen data infrastructure, expand analytics capacity, and advance data governance in support of student success, academic excellence, and institutional strategy. Marc’s background in statistics, research design, and psychometrics informs his approach to data literacy, decision support, analytics, and reporting. He currently oversees the university’s data strategy, including a transition to a cloud-based data infrastructure and analytics platform. He also chairs the institution’s Data Management Council, fostering campus-wide collaboration on data stewardship and policy. Marc’s work centers on making data accessible, actionable, and aligned with institutional priorities. He is particularly focused on cultivating a data-informed culture through shared language, transparency, and strategic use of analytics.
