Dr. Xilin Zhang is an institutional research professional with a research background in network science, system science, and computational social science. Currently serving as the Associate Director of Institutional Research at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), she leads interdisciplinary research initiatives that inform data-driven decision-making and strategic planning at the institutional level.
With her experience in higher education systems, data governance, and federal reporting, she brings a systems thinking approach to IR work. Xilin holds a Ph.D. in Systems Science and has extensive experience with NCES datasets, SQL, SAS, Python, and data visualization tools.
A member of the 2025 AIR Program & Strategy Committee. Some interesting research projects Xilin recently worked on include an IR AI chatbot, a regional economic impact study, and an assessment and evaluation of a state regulation commission.
