Session Abstract: Measuring equity gaps using demographic characteristics is an established method to identify where institutional policies and practice are not adequately supporting disadvantaged students. However, this method creates a proxy for disadvantage and often overlooks the root causes and sources of institutional accountability. This presentation explores the application of environmental metrics for disadvantage, how they complement demographic metrics, and what they can tell us about what an institution needs to do to create meaningful change.
