Session Abstract: The IPEDS data center provides comprehensive, reliable, and publicly accessible information on postsecondary institutions. This poster presentation will show how data from the IPEDS data center were used to create interactive dashboards using Tableau. The dashboards are designed to show data for various comparison groups and trends over time. In addition to presenting benchmarking data in an easily digestible format, the dashboards also enhance transparency and enable data-driven decision-making. The following topics will be covered in the poster presentation: Why IPEDS data?; the need for the dashboard; data extraction––IPEDS data center; data preparation––Excel, SPSS, MS Access, Tableau Prep; data integration with Tableau; dashboard design and layout; dashboard development; benefits; and future work. The attendees will take away ideas for developing a similar tool at their institutions and the resources requirements.
