Session Abstract: Accrediting bodies such as AAQEP, CACREP, and HLC emphasize assessing student learning through systematic analysis of outcomes, often using rubrics in LMS like Canvas. However, extracting and analyzing these data can be labor-intensive and error-prone. This presentation demonstrates how open-source tools like Posit (R) and Python can automate data extraction, consolidation, and analysis. We will showcase how to use the rCanvas package to access Canvas API data, extract rubric data with Python, and prepare it for dashboards in Shiny or PowerBI using the tidyverse. Participants will receive adaptable code to streamline the process, enabling more effective monitoring and enhancement of student learning, aligned with accreditation standards.
