Session Abstract: For Institutional Research (IR) offices, it is crucial to prepare and submit data to state and federal agencies accurately and promptly. Additionally, effectively using these data for validation and analysis is essential. Focusing on IPEDS HR as an example, this poster presentation will illustrate the data process, including examples of SAS and SQL program codes for data integration and tips for building and utilizing uploaded text files. It will describe the procedure for loading each year’s datasets into database for further analysis and visualization. Power BI dashboard examples will be shown to display yearly trends in employee count, faculty rank distribution by college/department, and side-by-side yearly comparisons of staff numbers by employment status and occupational category. The data processes, programming codes, and visualization dashboards can be applied broadly to other data preparation and IPEDS reporting, providing valuable tools for IR professionals.
